    Welcome to my kitchen

The story behind CHECA: Peru, family, Piura and the desire to share genuine Peruvian flavors in Stockholm.

I decided to do something I am passionate about, something that affects people's moods, brings them joy and creates memories.

That passion started long before CHECA.

It started in Peru, around family, food and the countryside of Piura. I was lucky to spend summers with my grandparents there, surrounded by the flavors that stay with you for life: mangoes, tamarind, papayas, chillies, limes from the Chira Valley, warm kitchens, long meals and the generosity that defines the Peruvian table.

In Peru, food is never just food. It is a way of welcoming people. A way of saying, "try this," "you have to taste this," "this is where I come from." Every Peruvian knows that feeling, the desire to share our favorite dishes, our ingredients, our drinks, our stories, and to show others the culture we are proud of.

CHECA was born from that feeling.

My journey has taken me through different places, studies, work and life in Europe, but the connection to Peru has always stayed with me. Opening CHECA in Stockholm was my way of bringing that connection to the table, not only through recipes, but through an experience.

At CHECA, we work with genuine Peruvian flavors, elevated through technique, ingredients and presentation. The food is honest, but carefully made. The drinks are part of the story too: pisco, cocktails, wine and Peruvian spirits, all helping create a journey through the flavors of Peru.

The menu is designed the way I believe Peruvian food should be enjoyed: with curiosity, variety and sharing. A bite, a ceviche or starter, a warm dish, a drink that opens the appetite, a glass of wine that keeps the conversation going. It is not only about eating. It is about gathering, discovering and feeling something.

That is why I opened CHECA: to create a warm, colorful and genuine place on Södermalm where people can experience Peru through food, drinks and hospitality.

    Welcome to my kitchen.
